The End is Very Close to the Beginning

The End is Very Close to the Beginning

By Peter Brown.

My reading of Vedanta helps me understand death as part of a natural, cyclical journey and not the end. Nature is cyclical, and the end is very close to the beginning. We come full circle and start a cycle. TS Eliot wrote about this wonderfully in Little Gidding, do you know the poem?

What we call the beginning is often the end

And to make and end is to make a beginning.

The end is where we start from…

We shall not cease from exploration

And the end of all our exploring

Will be to arrive where we started

And know the place for the first time

Perhaps I would say the following about my own hopes for 2013:

to live in deepest spirit, and without fear.

to try to understand the subtle, deep reality, as well as the material and obvious

to help others to think about their future, how to realise their dreams and overcome their fears

to celebrate the aesthetic always, as the highest expression of humanity.
